"Actually, the UN and the Max Planck Institute should be dealing with these things and not us semi-serious brainiacs " Denniz, Weather Balloon Team
Our Mission
Our mission is to bring the topic of unidentified flying objects and the possible existence of extraterrestrial intelligence into the public eye. By disseminating credible sightings, we aim to lend the discussion a seriousness that has long been denied it.
The team at Wetterballon.com has carefully compiled the most credible cases and presented them for you on this page. Our primary focus is always on maintaining a minimum level of credibility: Either several independent witnesses report the same event in unison, or – from our subjective perspective – the witnesses are exceptionally trustworthy.
Reports of UFO sightings have existed for thousands of years. The oldest known report dates back to ancient Egypt, around 1440 BC, during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III. Truly credible and well-documented records, however, only exist since 1947, when the respected pilot Kenneth Arnold reported his famous sighting. We will therefore focus on the period from 1947 to 2025. Influential voices in UFO research claim that the activity of unidentified flying objects has increased dramatically since the invention of the atomic bomb. This claim may initially seem like a wild conspiracy theory to outsiders or skeptics (like much of the content on this site) – but upon closer inspection, it eventually takes on an eerie plausibility.
Our team approached the topic of UFO sightings and the existence of extraterrestrial life with some skepticism at the beginning of this project. We are aware of the unimaginable distances between planets and the enormous amounts of energy and time required for interstellar travel. The probability of life ever emerging is already extremely low—the development of intelligent life is even more unlikely. And even if that does happen, a civilization would have to exist for millennia to develop technology capable of interplanetary travel. In short, we are aware of how vanishingly small the probability is that an extraterrestrial intelligence exists capable of visiting us.
And precisely against this backdrop, we nevertheless say: Anyone who delves deeply into this topic will inevitably reach the point where the most likely and logical explanation is by far the most likely and logical one. The repetitive attempts at explanation by so-called experts – from weather balloons to swamp gases to reflected lights – may certainly explain some of the sightings. But when it comes to the truly extraordinary events, which have been carefully selected here, such explanations seem not only inadequate, but often helpless, at times even absurd and ridiculous.
Sooner or later, even the most rational and skeptical people reach a point in their research where they pause, shocked, and realize: "We are not alone. It's all true. Nobody is making this up." This realization leaves them speechless, humbled—and angry. Angry because they finally realize that knowledge about our cosmic neighborhood isn't simply missing, but is being deliberately withheld by a few influential industrialists and politicians.
There is currently no rational explanation for any of the cases presented here. The explanatory approach of extraterrestrial intelligence should not only be considered here—in our view, it is the only logical explanation for the phenomena we have encountered in the course of our research.
In the events presented here, we have deliberately selected cases based on the statements of individual individuals. However, we only do this if there is consensus within our team about the authenticity and credibility of that individual. A particularly noteworthy example is the story of Bob Lazar. In one of his rare interviews, scientist Robert Scott "Bob" Lazar provides incredible insights into his work as an engineer on secret US military projects in episode 1315 of Joe Rogan's podcast. Given our existing knowledge, we consider his statements to be credible.
